We are barely less than 8weeks far away the December 7th 2020 General Election. This is will be the 8th times since the Fourth Republican, Ghana is going into an election. Again, this eighth General Election is for the responsible and Patriotic Citizens of Ghana to chose their sixth Head of State, as President to govern the nation for the next four years.
Interestingly, the New Patriotic Party has won three while the National Democratic Congress also four in the first seven general election conducted since 1992. These two rival political parties have had different flagbearers as well as leaders either re-elected or voted out of governance.
All are saying and keep on saying that this year’s Election is going to be one of the first competitive contest of our time. It is the only Election where a Former President like John Dramani Mahamma, now the Flagbearer on the ticket of the biggest opposition party is contesting for power with a sitting President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.
Both of these parties has launched their manifesto which is the Social contract between the party and the people of Ghana in the four years ahead of any is elected as the President. There has been a series of debate between the comunicators and Ghanaian members of both parties claiming to have more promising, realistic, timely and achievable campaign messages.
Because of the COVID-19, the usual Election campaign has mainly been online and other radio/tv platfoms. Both of these parties are selling hope and broadcasting their performance to Ghanaians to consider any for another term in office.
Uniquely, the New Patriotic Party, in early this year out-doored, 4-4-2-4 campaign code, a more simple and stress free way to campaign ahead December Election. This is by showing your four fingers in the air which indirectly informs the general public that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo needs another four years to transform the nation because the first term was not enough to accomplish that. Or you can Just say, 4more 4nana 2more 4u.
Many, especially the key members of the party have endorsed that and started throwing their fingers in the air. This is not different in our Colleges of Education.
Just today, the SRC General Secretary of Komenda College of Education, Clement Abban, a.k.a Settlement/Showboi who has served in this office for a year endorses the NPP’s 4-4-2-2 campaigning code by throwing his four fingers in the air. Guess what, this happened Immediately after finishing his last paper, Numeracy in the 2020 Teacher Licensure Exams.
This got more of his Colleagues and others who have political eyes tagging him as NPP appointee in the making. Is that really true?
The Campus Journalist got close to him, and it was revealed to him that, “I am not campaigning for the NPP or any Political party but my four fingers in the air is indirectly telling those around me and the world only for positive words, that is, I LOVE YOU MORE”, he confided.
The question which remains unanswered is, Why did he use the NPP’s 2020 campaigning code, and deceiving the Public that he wasn’t campaigning for any Political party Or is it a new way of confessing a love to someone?
The answer is yet to be found from the horse’s own mouth.
