WAEC apologises for unintentional leak of Examiners details

The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has made an unqualified apology to all Examiners whose confidential details were unintentionally leaked on the internet.

The non-profit-making organization in a release responding to claims of leaked question papers before the conduct of the examination said it has initiated investigations into the disturbing development and reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Department of the Ghana Police Service.

However, it has assured the general public and its relevant stakeholders that the marking process of scripts which has been over the years been tested will not be compromised despite the leaked details of examiners.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) commenting further on the leak of question papers attributed the incident to activities of scoundrel websites and other corruptible persons contributing to tarnish the image of the Council

“Snapshots of the Mathematics (Core) 2 Paper were posted on social media platforms after the release of the paper from WAEC Strong Rooms. Investigations into this issue are ongoing”. it cited.

The Examination Council while apologizing unreservedly, says it will continue to roll out various measures to deal with these illegal activities in order to ensure fairness to all candidates and maintain the integrity of the examination.

Meanwhile, the Minority in Ghana’s Parliament has called on the non-profit-making organization to immediately cancel all leaked WASSCE subject papers.
