His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has directed the Minister for Education to engage the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a dialogue of the dismissal of 14 Senior High Students who were involved in an indiscipline act last Monday 3rd August 2020, after writing the integrated science (WASSCE).

The students were spotted in a video which surfaced the internet hurling insults to the president over what they call “apor swerve” which means the questions they were expecting to see in the exams was not what they met upon sitting for the exams.

In a statement sighted by Frichy News which was signed by the Director of Communication at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, the president has asked the Education Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh to engage the Ghana Education Service to reconsider its decision to ban some fourteen dismissed final year senior high students from taking the ongoing West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

“even though the acts of indiscipline undertaken by these students are intolerable, acts which have led to their subsequent dismissal from school, president Akufo-Addo is of the firm view that dismissal alone is enough punishment and will serve as enough deterrent against future acts of indiscipline,” the statement said.

Additionally,“the president believes that everyone deserves a second chance in life and is thus, hopeful that the students will be allowed by the GES to take their final examinations as scheduled”.
